Quinnipiac will hire Brian Renfrew as assistant
Brian Renfrew, the former associate head hockey coach at Michigan State, has accepted a position as assistant coach at Quinnipiac, sources told the Register.
He will replace Ben Syer, who left last month for Cornell, on the Quinnipiac staff.
Renfrew, 39, spent seven seasons at Michigan State and was part of the Spartans national championship in 2007. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2008 by Rick Comely, who retired after last season. Renfrew was not retained by new MSU coach Tom Anastos. Here is his Michigan State bio.
