ALBANY, NY
– Yale goalie Alex Lyon earned his second conference goalie of the week
honor after helping his hockey team earn three points last weekend.
The
sophomore from Baudette, Minn., was named ECAC Goalie of the Week
today. He stopped 60 of 62 shots combined on Feb. 6 and 7, including his
school record sixth career shutout.
Lyon
stopped all 31 shots on Jan. 30 in Yale’s first shutout against
Princeton since 1971. The next night against nationally ranked
Quinnipiac, Lyon made 29 saves and did not allow a goal on four
advantages.
His
first ECAC goalie of the week honor came in November after the
Dartmouth/Harvard trip. Those two teams come to the Whale this weekend
for Alumni Weekend.
The Bulldog goalie ranks second in the nation in goals against (1.59) while he is third in save percentage (.941).
