Joel Beal, a former player at Union College and a volunteer assistant there since 2011, was hired by Sacred Heart coach C.J. Marottolo as a full-time assistant coach. He scored 101 career points as a forward at Union, graduating in 2005.

Marottolo also added Jared Waimon as a volunteer assistant coach to the Pioneers staff. Waimon specializes in goaltenders.
